Wayfinding: Formula E

We’ve been working away on several really exciting projects over the past few months, and one that’s nearing completion is our work with Formula E.

Wayfinding: Formula E
"Since inception it has gone on to be the first single-seater racing series outside of Formula One to be given world championship status."

Formula E is a single-seater motorsport championship for electric cars, which launched in 2011 under the banner of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, the same governing body as Formula One. Since inception it has gone on to be the first single-seater racing series outside of Formula One to be given world championship status. They approached us earlier this year, in conjunction with our long-term collaborators TRIA, to design a wayfinding system for them that they could take with them all over the world.

As a studio, Tangent cut its collective teeth in the global event sector, so we were delighted to have the opportunity to work with Formula E. We specialise in creating wayfinding systems and will establish a comprehensive guidelines for a consistent signage system that will be used in every event across the world. Utilising custom typefaces, dual language principles will be key to drawing attention and conveying key information to a global audience.

Formula E will start to roll out our wayfinding system in early 2024, kicking off with Mexico City, Diriyah, Hyderabad, São Paulo and Tokyo. Mexico City will also see them debut a new electric race car - the fastest, lightest, most powerful and efficient ever built. So now there’s two reasons to tune in!
