Hunting the Unicorn

Throughout this year, we’ve been working on a brand for the new Perth Museum, due to open in the historic City Hall building in spring 2024. It’s been a brilliant job to work on and we can’t wait to visit the new home of the Stone of Destiny next year, when they will debut not only their new brand, but also their inaugural exhibition, which we’re excited to be able to tell you a bit more about soon…

Hunting the Unicorn
“The artworks should be inspired by a “specific, current, or recent injustice or story related to the LGBTQI+ community that demands urgent attention.””

The museum will take visitors on a journey of Scotland's origins as a Kingdom, including its national animal, the Unicorn. The museum is inviting artists who identify as part of the LGBTQI+ community to create a unique artwork that explores the theme of ‘Hunting the Unicorn’ as a metaphor for the persecution and discrimination faced by their community. The artworks should be inspired by a “specific, current, or recent injustice or story related to the LGBTQI+ community that demands urgent attention.” Each artist will be presented with a blank, life size horse head to use as a creative canvas which they may modify in any way they wish to best serve the concept and message of their piece.

Artists should submit a proposal outlining their concept and intended artistic approach. A panel of curators and LGBTQI+ advocates will select six artists whose work will form part of Perth Museum’s first high profile exhibition experience.

It’s brilliant to see our clients being so bold and offering such a great opportunity to queer artists. We were already looking forward to the museum opening but now we can’t wait to see what the LGBTQIA+ community adds to the exhibition.
