We are delighted to start the New Year by announcing a great new project. Tangent has been selected to design and build the new website for The Lighthouse - Scotland's Centre for Design and Architecture. The site will be a key tool in the Lighthouse's strategy to continue its promotion of architecture, design and the creative industries, locally, nationally and internationally, by engaging people of all ages through a creative exhibition, education and business programme.

IRN-BRU CARNIVAL
Tangent has been commissioned to rebrand the Irn-Bru Carnival. The brief was to create a more inclusive, family friendly and stylish identity. We have utilised an illustrative style to represent the traditional values of the carnival experience. Tangent is creating all printed material, a new website and a television advert, rolling out over the next 2 months. The Irn-Bru Carnival is Europe's largest indoor fun fair, and takes place in Glasgow's SECC from 23 December 2011 to 15 January 2012.

GLASGOW 2014 NEW HEADQUARTERS
Commonwealth House is the new home of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee. Tangent Graphic was tasked with rolling out the brand across the interior and exterior of the 108,000 square feet space. The Pictograms, also designed by Tangent Graphic, are the creative focus. A floor to ceiling Pictogram has been applied to the glass front of each meeting room, creating a frosted effect with varying degrees of privacy. The internal walls feature a flash of matt colour complimented with a high gloss typographic overlay. The results reinforce the ambition of the Organising Committee and reflect the scale of the event - the largest in Scotland’s history.

GLASGOW SCHOOL OF ART DIGITAL DOCUMENTATION
Tangent has recently completed the website for the Digital Documentation 2011 annual conference. Organised by the Digital Design Studio at the Glasgow School of Art and Historic Scotland, the event will focus on digital documentation, laser scanning and 2D/3D representation within the heritage, conservation and new media sectors. The conference website features innovative navigation and showcases a series of 3D mapping video clips.

We have just completed the new look for ticketSOUP.com®. The new visual style will roll out across a range of printed and digital material, and will have seasonal variations throughout the year. Taking inspiration from the architectural features of the Armadillo and SECC, the visual style reflects the huge selection and diversity of attractions on offer from the ticketing site. ticketSOUP.com® is managed by the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC), Scotland's largest indoor venue.

COMMONWEALTH DAY: SPORT YOUR TRAINERS
'Sport Your Trainers' will be held annually on Commonwealth Day for the next 3 years, to raise awareness of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. The visual style, created by Tangent, was rolled out across a range of printed and outdoor material, with an online campaign created by Dog Digital. Over 800,000 people wore their trainers on Monday 14th March in a show of support for the games. The 6 week campaign has been supported by prominent sporting figures including Sebastian Coe, Liz McColgan and Daley Thompson.

Tangent has been appointed to create a new brand identity for The Word Alliance, a collaboration of 7 of the world's finest literary festivals - Beijing, Berlin, Edinburgh, Jaipur, Melbourne, New York and Toronto. Tangent has been tasked with creating a full brand identity and website. The Word Alliance brand will communicate with existing and potential funders, stakeholders, publishers, authors and other parties interested in the reach and depth of international collaboration between partner festivals.

GLASGOW 2014 COMMONWEALTH GAMES
Tangent has been appointed as the lead Graphic Design Agency for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. We will be responsible for the evolution and rollout of the brand in partnership with the Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee. Tangent has been tasked to work on art direction, design for print, digital design and photography, including one of the most eagerly-awaited design elements of any Games - the pictograms. The 20th Commonwealth Games will be the largest multi-sport event ever held in Scotland, with Glasgow hosting 17 sporting events over 11 days of competition.

THE BEAUTY OF DIAGRAMS
Tangent features on the forthcoming episode of 'The Beauty of Diagrams'. Aired on 09 Dec 10 on BBC Four, the six part series sees mathematician Marcus du Sautoy explore the stories behind some of the world's most familiar and iconic diagrams. Tern TV approached Tangent to design an infographic to document casualties in the Afghanistan war. The inspiration was Florence Nightingale's famous infographic of the Crimean war. Previous episodes have focussed on Leonardo da Vinci's The Vitruvian Man, Copernicus's diagram of a sun-centred universe and Isaac Newton's Prism.

We have recently completed the first stage of our rebrand for Hall Aitken Associates. A long standing client, the social and economic regeneration agency asked us to reposition their offering to react to changing needs within their sector. With the initial branding established, we look forward to the rollout of all collateral over the coming months, including their online presence, internal communications and promotional materials.

LOOK UP STUDIOS NEW YORK
Tangent has just completed the full brand identity and website creation for Look Up Studios in New York. Following a successful competitive pitch Tangent saw off competition from four other agencies to secure the project. Look Up Studios produces and directs movies and commercials for clients ranging from The Economist to Doritos crisps as well independent documentaries and movies. Website launching November 2010.

Tangent's US studio is now based in the Chelsea District of Manhattan. Chelsea has become a centre of the New York art world with more than 350 art galleries jostling with boutique restaurants and retail units. EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL BOOK FESTIVAL LAUNCHES
The world's largest public celebration of the written word has launched. The Edinburgh International Book Festival brings together writers and thinkers from across the world for a series of debates and performances. Look out for Will Self, Alasdair Gray and David Shrigley. The festival carries a new look, created by Tangent. Don't forget to drop your vote for the Readers' First Book Award into the custom made ballot box we had constructed from Fluoro Perspex. The festival runs until 30th August 2010.

TANGENT TO FEATURE ON BBC DOCUMENTARY
Tangent Graphic has just finished filming for a forthcoming BBC documentary. We were commissioned to design a diagram visualising cause of death for the first 300 troop casualties in the Afghanistan war, and to discuss the rationale behind our solution. The six part series, 'The Beauty of Diagrams' explores diagrams and images that have successfully shaped and defined our understanding of complex scientific theories. The series will be aired in the autumn, and features iconic diagrams such as Leonardo da Vinci's The Vitruvian Man and Isaac Newton's Prism.

SCOTTISH DESIGN AWARDS 2010 WINNER
Tangent Graphic has just won a Scottish Design Award for 'Glasgow's Twin Cities'. The project won the 'Exhibition/Point of Sale' category and was also shortlisted for the 'Best in Show' category. The annual award ceremony took place on Friday 28th May and celebrates the best in graphic design and architecture throughout Scotland.

PETER HOWSON
We are delighted to have been commissioned to design the official website for Peter Howson, Scotland's most celebrated artist. Tangent Graphic will establish a full new identity, with work commencing in the coming weeks. Howson, renowned for his powerful figurative work, became established in the 1980s as one of the New Glasgow Boys, a group of painters concerned with portraying social issues. His work is exhibited in major international collections, whilst private clients include David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Bob Geldof and Madonna.

EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL BOOK FESTIVAL 2010
Tangent has just completed the identity for this year's Edinburgh International Book Festival, including the design of their events listings brochure. The world's largest public celebration of the written word takes place in the heart of Edinburgh from 14-30 August. Over 750 writers and thinkers from across the globe are taking part, including big names from the worlds of literature, poetry and politics. The brochure will be available from June.

Our focus is to establish a visual style that will communicate the history, values and unique atmosphere of the restaurants. We have been asked to deliver a branding presentation at the 'Why wait for 2014' Hospitality Marketing seminar at Blythswood Square Hotel, Glasgow – 16 March 2010. When Glasgow hosts the Commonwealth Games in 2014, it will celebrate one of the greatest events in its history. This seminar is geared towards the hospitality industry with the message not to wait for 2014 to market themselves to visitors.

Tangent celebrates the start of 2010 with a new project win. We have been appointed by Culture & Sport Glasgow to create the visual identity for 'Glasgow's Leading Attractions' (GLA). GLA aims to raise awareness and increase visits to over 20 of Glasgow's most prominent attractions, including Kelvingrove Art Gallery, The Glasgow School of Art, Hampden Park and Glasgow Science Centre.

Scotland Art have opened a new art gallery in the heart of Glasgow city centre, soon after Tangent established their new brand identity. The opening night, 'City Lights: Paintings of Glasgow', was a great success, showcasing the work of some of Scotland's finest talent.
Established in 1999, Scotlandart.com is Scotland’s largest stockist of original art representing over 150 artists with galleries in both Glasgow and Edinburgh.

RIVERSIDE MUSEUM COMMISSION
Glasgow's Riverside Museum Appeal has commissioned Tangent to design all collateral promoting a series of talks throughout the City. Each talk, from the likes of world champion cyclist Graeme Obree, will raise awareness of the new museum exhibits.
The Riverside Museum will be the new iconic museum of transport, currently being built on the banks of the River Clyde. Due to open in 2011, it is expected to attract up to 1 million visitors per year.

NISA VELODROME
Tangent Graphic is to establish the brand identity for an exhibition aimed at raising awareness of the new National Indoor Sports Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow. The exhibition will highlight key features and benefits of the venues to Glasgow residents. Tangent is to apply the identity to printed literature and exhibition material.
The National Indoor Sports Arena and Velodrome will provide a variety of sporting facilities and will play host to international sporting events, including the Commonwealth Games in 2014.

For the third consecutive year, Tangent Graphic is developing the Glasgow River Festival visual identity. Tangent has constructed a set using glass panels, coloured acetate sheets and hand cut shapes with atmospheric back lighting. This photographic execution delivers a unique style that innovatively captures a translucent, water texture using light and reflection.
The Glasgow River Festival is an annual 2 day event on the banks of the River Clyde. Attracting over 85,000 visitors, it is the summer's foremost family festival.

Tangent has recently completed the branding and visual identity for The Bar on Seven in New York. Commissioned by Diageo and Liquid Assets Global, Tangent was briefed to create a sophisticated and stylish brand for the new upmarket cocktail bar. The 5 month project received a high profile launch at the end of January.

The new website for IntelligentComms has launched for the New Year. Tangent developed the Intelligent Comms brand identity to establish the new concept and design for the site. With copy by AdBlack, the site has a fully integrated Content Management System and online booking facilities.
Formed in 2002, IntelligentComms is a telecoms consultancy specialising in reducing external communication costs. Tangent will consult on various branding aspects of the company's print and digital media.

Tangent Graphic celebrate the New Year with the appointment to work on the branding and design of the new Rainbow Room International website, working in partnership with IRW Systems. Tangent celebrate the opening of The Italian Caffe Enoteca, in Glasgow's Merchant City. Specialising in Italian tapas, The Italian Caffe Enoteca is the first of its kind in Scotland. Tangent established the restaurant's brand identity and were commisioned to produce a wide range of branded printed material.

2014 - WE'LL BE WATCHING
Tangent Graphic worked closely with the 2014 Commonwealth Games Bid team to deliver the "We'll be Watching" campaign, to encourage people to view the results of the Bid announcement live from Sri Lanka.
The branding campaign ran across a variety of media, including television, outdoor advertising, print, web and digital marketing. The campaign featured various groups of people to reflect a wide cross section of the community.
